My acne scars have to go. I do not know how long I could go on living with a splotchy face. For once, I want to be able to go out and face people without feeling self-conscious about the way my face looks. It is too inconvenient to have to pile on globs of foundation and dab my face with concealer in so many spots just to hide my blemishes. Just the other day, I have decided to try out chemical peels for acne scars in hopes to finally solve my skin problems. I actually spent a lot of time reading about these chemical peels for acne scars before finally deciding to go out and purchase a home chemical peeling kit. I did consult my doctor about it and the product I chose was cleared by my dermatologist.
In my research in chemical peels for acne scars, I learned that there are several kinds of home chemical peeling kits. There are lactic acid peels, non-enzyme peeling kits, glycolic acid peels, salicylic acid peels, and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels. Lactic acid peels and non-enzyme peeling kits are best for those with mild scarring problems. These are basically recommended for first timers or those who simply want to have a cleaner look by peeling the skin’s surface layer. The glycolic acid peel and the TCA peel provide stronger peeling solutions. Both peels work deep down under the skin’s layers for cleansing and exfoliation although TCA peels do not have bleaching effects and are great for those who have dark complexions. These chemical peels for acne scars can be done in dermatologists’ clinics on an out-patient basis but, I prefer to use home chemical peeling kits for now.
Although chemical peels done in dermatologists’ clinics are already more affordable than surgical procedures, home chemical peeling kits provide a yet more affordable solution to my problem. Also, these home chemical peeling solutions are milder in formulation than in-clinic solutions. The one I got was easy enough to use following the directions on the package. I made sure I followed everything exactly as directed to prevent any possible bad effects – some people have cautioned me against leaving the solution on my face for too long as it could cause more serious skin irritations. It only takes a few minutes to apply the solution on my face, let it set, and then rinse it off with cool water. In a matter of days after using the chemical peeling kit, I found my face to clearer and tighter.
As I mentioned, one disadvantage of using home chemical peels for acne scars is the danger of using the product wrong. Leaving the solution on your face longer than directed can cause your skin to become raw and irritated. Some people feel a burning sensation because of the chemical solution. On the other hand, there are also people who claim that these home chemical peeling kits are not quite as effective as in-clinic peeling treatments as they are not as strongly formulated. Admittedly, I do not have a deep-seated scarring problem and the splotches and discoloration I have are mild enough for home chemical peeling kits to remedy.
